New Myth article up
Posted On 2011-04-20 , 3:55 PM
Hi all,
We've been busy again so not much has gone up in the last couple months but we had a great email question come in today that needed to be addressed in the myths section. Although it's not truley a Myth in the sense of the dropping or freezing Myths we've posted so far it's one that's caused a dozen or more drives this year alone to come in destroyed well beyond repair.
Come read the article and let us know what you think.

Getting caught up
Posted On 2011-01-15 , 7:47 PM
Hello folks,
It's been a great year! Our recovery DIY resource site has come up from not being in existence to a ranking in Alexa just shy of top 500,000 websites in the world. Our most popular DIY recovery article has been viewed more than 20,000 times in less than a year and the site is seeing 6,000-12,000 visits a month. Needless to say we've been overwhelmed with the response.
Being overwhelmed has it's down side, but we're happy to accept problems like being too busy to write many blog entries. We hope with our new equipment in place and our workflow settling down we will be able to be more active on the blog and plan to get a few more Myth articles up in the coming months.
Feel free to join the site as a friend and chime in once in a while or fire us your comments from our contact us page.

New Server is keeping busy
Posted On 2010-12-24 , 8:35 PM
Looks like the new server we added in October was a timely addition indeed. So far it's been running active cases nearly 14 hours a day on average. It's been set up to handle broken RAID arrays and damaged databases of about a dozen types.
This has been a great addition to the lab as it has reduced the load on the existing servers allowing us to trim back the services offered per server and let them all be more efficient at their assigned tasks. Recovery times still average 3-5 days and recovery costs still average $350, so there's been no real change in our rates or external process we just run 14 hours a day now instead of 15 to keep up.
We look forward to adding another server in spring that will take on more of our logical recoveries and maybe even shorten our days to 12 hours (likely more like 13). All the new hardware does make it easier to handle rushes or simply high volume weeks or months and make it easier to ensure you see your data back in your hands sooner rather than later.
In our upgrades we've ended up with some unused 4-post HP Server rack mounting kits, slide out type. Drop us a line if you'de like a set.

CBL Pro-V 4 Review
Posted On 2010-10-22 , 9:23 AM
Hello all,
The lab has been pretty busy since we launched the site and continues to get busier. Reviews take a lot of work and we've finally had to add 2 new machines to our lab just to be sure at least one is available for testing software we review.
That being done now we finally got through the gambit of testing for CBL's Pro-V data recovery software Version 4. Although we found it a great piece of software with powerful controls we definitely think it's geared more for the Pros, as the name indicates than D-I-Y types. So If you're a newbie trying your first recovery attempt, best to stick with the simpler programs reviewed earlier this year. If you are a technitian or more advanced user with some real hardware training/knowledge this one is a great utility to keep in your back pocket.
Check out the full review CBL Pro-V v4 Review By Armor-IT Data Recovery
We look forward to getting more reviews up now that we have expanded our lab to handle the level of traffic it's been getting. We would also like to thank all our customers for their great questions, testimonials we keep recieving about successful D-I-Y attempts and ovbiously submissions of recovery jobs you deemed important enough to pay the pro's at Armor-IT Data Recovery to assist you with.
We will be trying out Pro-V FAT32 next and have a large pile of Fat32 devices to use for the testing, it will be interesting to see how well it stacks up next, once that's done we'll see if CBL is willing to throw a copy of the non Pro version our way for testing as well as I suspect that one would be better geared for our average user.
